Proper Load Rating: To figure the tire load rating multiply the rating of the tire by 4. For example a 17" Michelin Energy LX4 has a load rating of 1874 pounds. This article will explain to you how to adjust a carburetor after rebuilding one. You can also use these instructions to adjust rebuilt carburetor after you buy one. Most of the carburetor adjustments are preset if you buy a rebuilt one rather than rebuilding one and having to find the specifications to adjust it to. After installing the carburetor on the vehicle, you will still need to check these adjustments. Although the rebuilt carburetors have been preset, they still have to be adjusted properly or your vehicle will not run, as it should.
Once you set the carburetor on the vehicle and tighten, everything down the first adjustment to this carburetor will be to the choke system. On a cold engine hit, the throttles cable a couple of times and see if the choke plate snaps shut. When it does start the vehicle up and watch the choke pull off in operation. Some carburetors have two choke pull offs operated by the engine vacuum engine. Normally after a carburetor rebuild a choke angle gage is used to adjust these pull offs. We are going to presume that a carburetor choke angle gage was not used and adjust this carburetor’s choke pull off by sight and sound.
As the engine starts and is, idling high because of the cold engine check and adjust the carburetors fast idle speed settings. Adjust the fast idle to specifications. With a Phillips head screwdriver, adjust the choke pull off by turning the screw clock wise to lean the mixture out. Turning the screw counter clockwise, you will be richening up the pull off setting. As the carburetor is warming up after a couple of minutes hit the carburetors throttle once and your choke linkage should kick down to your base idle speed setting. Adjust your carburetors base idle speed to specification and at this time adjust your carburetors air conditioning idle by turning on the air condition and setting that ac idle to specifications.
Carburetor adjusting is a skill that can be learned over a long period. I understand carburetors are no longer installed on today’s cars but I have seen many older cars still on the roads today. The last carburetor adjustment to do now is the air fuel mixture screws or screw depending on the type of carburetor you have. This carburetor adjustment is what you can call fine-tuning the mixture screws. Turn the car off and screw each carburetor mixture screw all of the way in making sure not to over tighten them. Now with your carburetor-adjusting tool screw both screws all the way out three complete turns. Start the car and slowly turn the carburetor adjusting screw in a quarter of a turn each time until you hear the engine begin to lower its base idle. Turn the screw back out slow enough to get that last little RPM rise and stop. Do the same to the second carburetor screw if equipped.

Sway Bars The biggest bang for your buck!

As we continue our look at the suspension components on the BMW, perhaps none are as hotly debated as sway bars. They give you the absolutely largest gain in performance for the least amount of money. A good set of sway bars can literally transform your car from a well handling car into a corner carving beast that makes your wife not want to ride with you (ask me how I know).
So you bought your BMW because it is billed as "The Ultimate Driving Machine". From the factory, BMW had several options on sway bars depending on your model. Sizes for them ranged between 18.5-24mm front diameter bars and 15-21mm rear bars depending on body style and year. Generally the 330s had the largest bars and as a general rule the thicker the bar, the more stable the car during aggressive driving. But it isnt as simple as "bigger bars are better".
What is important to remember is that the front and rear bars work in tandem, and small changes to either can have a drastic difference in the way your car handles. For instance, the Dinan performance sway bars for the E46 are much smaller diameter in comparison to my UUC Swaybarbarians and are set to add a little extra oversteer to the dramatic understeer your BMW has from the factory. It isnt a great deal of difference over factory sport sway bars and I can only figure this is because Dinan is a factory BMW performance division and they want it to be "aggressive" but still keep you from killing yourself. And since this topic is so broad and the range of changes and options is so great I will move on and discuss my personal findings and experience.
I got a used set of UUC swaybarbarians for the E46. It was an INSTANT and DRAMATIC change (intially I set the bars to their stiffest setting front and rear). All of a sudden my car felt like it was going to go where I pointed it and NO body roll whatsoever. It almost felt too "twitchy" and I admit, at first, I was a little scared of it. The tail end noticeably swept around much better. If my venerable little 323 motor had enough oomph, the car could be steered with the gas pedal. After a few weeks of driving it like this I became accustomed to the way it felt and began to push my car harder and harder. I then started playing with the different settings and I began to learn by FEEL how and what the car does. This is probably one of the more exciting things I have leared in my time as a "Bimmerhead" and I am loving it.

- Get adjustable sway bars. Non adjustable sways would be boring and if you are paying upwards of $400, why not get something that allows you to make adjustments to fine tune the car to YOUR style?
- Buy heavy duty adjustable front sway end links. You will kill your stock ones in short order if you dont and it makes a world of difference in feel and allows for even more fine tuning of your car.
- Beef up your rear sway bar mount tabs. The BMW stock tabs on the rear are very weak and thin. Running a super fat, stiff bar like the UUCs, it is possible you could tear them. Turnermotorsport.com has a set of weld in reinforcements that cost $20 and you can probably get them welded in by a muffler shop for under $50. It is worth it. Keeping them from breaking is so much easier than fixing them when they are broken.
- Stiffer isnt always better. Youll see what I mean when you get them!
- Finally, GET SOME NEW SWAY BARS! It is the best mod I have ever done.

2. Check all of your wiper blades and washer fluid. - There is nothing worse than driving into an unexpected rain storm and cant see where you are going. Not only is it hard but it is also very dangerous. The same goes for checking your washer fluid. After the rain you will be trying to clear the windshield from all of the dirt and mud.
3. Tire pressure is very important for your road handling and your gas mileage.- Go out and buy yourself a tire pressure gage from any parts store. 5. Constantly replacing your oil fouled spark plugs. Just as I mentioned above, there are also more reasons other than your valve guide seals. Your piston and compression rings inside your cars engine will need to be replaced and the cylinders rebored. Basically an engine overhaul will fix this problem.

A friend of mine told me that now the word Repossession is listed on my credit report where as I am now unable to get another vehicle for my 8 year old son and I. I did forget to mention I am Disabled and having to walk my son to the bus stop every morning. So if you love your car or truck do not take out a car title loan with Midwest Title Loans out of St. joseph Missouri. My loan I had left to get my title back was only $300 and at the time of repossession the interest rates on it jumped up to over $1,400.00. My advice is to not to do any business with Midwest Title Loans out of St. Joseph Missouri.

Midwest Title Loans gave me 10 days to come up with $1,400.00 or their exact words were, “it will be going on our auction Block.” Where could I get $1,400.00 in 10 days? This is the biggest scam I have seen in a long time. They still have my cane I need to walk around with and they refuse to give it back to me. Disabled or not Midwest Title Loans do not care. My 7 year old son cried when we discovered our vehicle had been repossessed by Midwest Title Loans. I found another article where a classaction lawsuit is going on in the state of Missouri addressing these high interest rates. So please go to the other guys there in St. joseph on the Belt Hwy. if you really need a car title loan. I promise you will be treated with more respect then Midwest Title Loans. –The autodude-

Old spark plugs will eat up your gas like you would not believe. I have tuned up cars using a before and after effect using an oscilloscope and a four gas reading machine used for emission testing. You will create a very strong spark used for combustion with new spark plugs. The engine oscilloscope shows the voltage loss on the screen compared to almost none with a new set of spark plugs. The engine four gas machine will show a very large decrease in your hydrocarbon levels also with a new set of spark plugs.
Change out your oxygen sensors when it is time.
On today’s cars they use the assistance of oxygen sensors located in your vehicles exhaust system. Depending on your year make and model you will have from one to five 02 sensors on your car or truck. You can see them in action watching them on your scanner. Old and sluggish 02 sensors will not work fast enough in controlling your air and fuel mixtures. You will basically be throwing unburned fuel out of your tail pipe. By changing out your 02 sensors you will also improve your gas mileage.
Change out your spark plug wires regardless of their exterior appearance every sixty thousand miles.
Spark plug wires are just like spark plugs showing the loss of voltage on an engine oscilloscope. If you were to just replace one spark plug wire you can visually see a big difference on the oscilloscope. Replacing your spark plug wires every sixty thousand miles will improve your gas mileage tremendously.
Change out your filters when it is time will improve your gas mileage.
Your car’s filters will smother your car’s engine when they are not replaced on a regular basis. Your gas filter will get plugged up and not only will cause you to break down it will make the driver use more of their throttle pedal to waste gas. The air filter really needs no explanation. If it is not replaced then your engine will no longer be able to breathe. So as you can see these tips used will definitely improve your gas mileage.
